Rocky Mountain Show Jumping continues its support of the CET Medal Series!

Rocky Mountain Show Jumping is pleased at this time to announce its continued support of the CET Medal Series in Canada.

Founded by Barbara Anderson in 1988 inspired by the USET Medal program in the US which to date then produced so many top riders, she saw that the same type of program could be easily introduced in Canada.

The CET Medal is much more than just another equitation class. Composed of three phases – flat, gymnastics and a jumping phase – the season-long series culminates with regional finals. The top four placed riders at each of the four regional finals are then invited to compete at the national final, which takes place at Toronto’s Royal Winter Fair each year. Winning the CET Medal Final has often been the first major achievement for aspiring young show jumpers.

Rocky Mountain Show Jumping has been pleased to host the Prairie Regional Finals at the Anderson Ranch venue for many years, and is committed to the continued success of the program as it approaches 25 years in existence. Barbara's son and Canadian Equestrian team member John Anderson had the opportunity to present the Ontario regional finalists with their awards in 2009, as well as the finalists at the Royal Winter Fair.

“I’m so proud of my mother and family for all they have done for the sport of show jumping in Canada,” he says. “Equitation is an absolute must for the development of great riders.” As John points out, the large percentage of names on the list of past winners who have gone on to become top riders, trainers and coaches is proof that the program does what it was originally intended to do. “It shows that the system works.”

The CET Prairie regional finals are currently underway at Anderson Ranch, and Rocky Mountain Show Jumping has also agreed to sponsor the coolers as well as $1,000.00 to the Milner Downs facility in Langley B.C. next week (Sept 22-26) for the Running Fox CET Pacific regional finals.

The main reason for supporting the CET regionals in BC, is not only for the CET Medal as an entire entity, but to support Bobbie Reber, who is the head trainer at Milner Downs, and a long time supporter of the CET Medal program.

Bobbie has not only judged CET Medal classes but also trained a number of CET Medal Final winners, including her daughter Ashley. “With flat, gymnastics and jumping phases, as well as switching horses, the competition emphasizes horsemanship skills.” Reber was a fan of the CET Medal right from its debut in 1988. “I was a huge promoter. I saw that so many riders lacked flat and gymnastic skills. I find that’s where a lot of people just doing hunter equitation get a little slack.” The gymnastics phase has become a serious challenge for which riders have to train if they are to do well, says Bobbie.

The management team at RMSJ wishes all competitors the best of luck at the Running Fox CET Pacific regional finals, and looks forward to seeing the top 4 in the winners circle during presentations!
