Gail Greenough Turns 50!

RMSJ would like to extend a special Happy Birthday to one of Alberta's great equestrian personalities. Gail Turned 50 on Saturday March 7, but with so many riders here in town for the Spruce Meadows indoor tournaments , we were asked to help by some of Gail's students and there families to get the word out about a little get together to help celebrate her birthday on Saturday March 20, following the competitions!

Come to the Sirocco Golf Course and join us in Ibby's lounge for a few cocktails and some great food and help celebrate her birthday. The festivities will be casual and we hope you will join us who will also be there to help her ring in this Milestone. Please send us a quick email to indicate if you will be stopping by so that we can get an idea of a headcount for the food. It will be a cash bar, and food will be served, and please, no gifts. If you would like to donate $20 towards the cost of the food, that would be great. You can give it to Karin Macoun at the event.

Look forward to seeing you there!

RMSJ Winter Training Series:

The RMSJ WTS Hunter II tournament concluded two weeks ago, in Olympic fashion.  We were so pleased to see so many new people join us for the event.  When asked how they enjoyed their first experience competing at RMSJ their responses were of complete satisfaction.   So many of the new parents couldn’t believe that we had the hockey game on the big screen during competition, but were thrilled that it was.  Fair to say that there were more people glued to the historic Gold Medal game than were watching the jumping.  Competition had to be paused for a while to allow everyone including the judge to watch overtime.

It proved to be a good management decision, as when the winning goal was scored, not a horse on the planet wouldn’t have spooked.  Not only was this another record breaking turnout for one of our hunter tournaments but our Canadian Olympians set some records as well.  A big congratulations to all of the Olympic athletes as well as our competitors at RMSJ.

Current points tabulations are now posted, don’t forget that the next tournament of the jumping variety comes up this weekend, and it is your last chance to get points that will count for the coveted RMSJ Winter Training Series Champion & Reserve.

BONUS Do your entries online, and on time, and earn $10 in Rocky Mountain Horseshoes!

Carrots & Cocktails Signature Series I completed:

Carrots & Cocktails just wrapped up the first dressage weekend tournament hosted  under the Rocky Mountain Show Jumping banner.  The weekend was a great success, with a record breaking turnout!  The dressage competitors were very excited about the new additions to the tournaments.  RMSJ would like to extend a big THANK YOU to all of the tournament volunteers whose efforts  helped ensure that our first dressage event went off without a hitch.  Competition ran very smoothly, and we are pleased with the support that our new family of exhibitors showed us!  Breaking into the dressage world is a great new venture for us, and we look forward to hosting many more tournaments like this in the future.

We remind you that the next Carrots & Cocktails dressage event is coming up on April 16-18.  Due to the success of this past tournament, we have added a day to the competition.   Our Hunter & Jumper competitors know this, but we would like to remind you, that we are always available to answer any of your questions about our tournaments.

If you are interested in any volunteer oportunities please contact Jacqueline Patmore at: jacqueline@rmshowjumping.com

Entry form for the April 16-18 tournament will be posted shortly.
