Spruce Meadows Masters Completed:

The 2009 Spruce Meadows Masters concluded yesterday in record breaking fashion.  Over 70,000 people were treated to an exciting jump-off between Canada’s Eric Lamaze and US rider McLain Ward.  Only two 100ths of a second decided the victory with McLain and his mare Saphire coming out on top!

Please use some of the links below to see some of the great local media coverage as well as some of the CBC coverage available on the web.

Rocky Mountain Classic III Completed:

2009 marked the first year of the Rocky Mountain Classic III featuring both Jumper and Hunter Derbies.  Saturday was Derby Day for the jumpers, using both the Grand Prix Field and the second jumper ring.  Competitors had the opportunity to jump all of the natural obstacles as well as the traditional jumper fences.  Sunday featured the inaugural Rocky Mountain Show Jumping $5,000 Hunter Derby, and with 33 horses entering the Derby, told us that our competitors want more of these types of competitions!  Once again we would like to thank everyone for your continued support of the tournaments at RMSJ.

RMSJ Fall Finale featuring the ASJA Three Star Finals & CET Regional qualifiers:

RMSJ is very pleased to be hosting the Alberta Show Jumping Association Three Star Finals and CET regional qualifiers this week at the Fall Finale to be held at Anderson Ranch on September 17 - 20!

The Alberta Show Jumping Association has gone through numerous changes in the past few years, all in the efforts to make the sport here in Alberta better for the competitors. With the changes is the enhancement of the ASJA finals. In past years, the ASJA finals has always been geared to predominantly the medal and equitation divisions with the focus being the CET regional finals where three riders qualify to travel to the Royal Winter Fair in November. Typically, the riders who compete in the regionals are the more experienced in our sport. This year, the ASJA decided to produce an event that would also reward the more up and comers of the sport. The ASJA Finals will feature the Three Star Finals, where riders who have been accumulating points all year at the Three Star Tournaments will be able to accumulate double the points in their competitions in their quest to be crowned either champion or reserve champion for the year in their respective divisions. The ASJA felt it was necessary to reward more members of the association and felt that adding this component to the finals, it would make it a little bit more "special" to all.

RMSJ will host a reception in the VIP tent during one of the evenings of the event to pay tribute to all members of the ASJA....look for more details upon arrival.
