The second week of a three week Thunderbird Showpark Series concluded this past weekend, and yet again, Rich Fellers took control of the winner's circle. Rich finished First and Second on Flexible and Kilkenny Rindo in Friday night’s $25,000 Tommy Bahama Grand Prix. He went on to finish First, Second and Third in the $10,000 Province Speed Challenge on Banba, Colgan Cruise and McGuinness. Finally in the feature event of the week, Rich finished First and Second in the $75,000 Keg Steakhouse and Bar Grand Prix aboard Flexible and Kilkenny Rindo in a field of 20 horses. Fellers wins $75 Grand Prix Log day at Anderson Ranch: The news is out that RMSJ has acquired a Log for the Grand Prix ring at Anderson Ranch. Wednesday was officially declared Log Day at the Rocky Mountain Classic, and the 1.30m division played host to the christening of the log that made its journey just a few short weeks ago from Vancouver Island. Lisa Carlsen was drawn first to go in the welcome competition and was asked to break the champagne over the log with all of the riders competing in the event. Upon the conclusion of the competition, the top eight riders were invited to share a bottle of Dom Perignon vintage 2000 in celebration of Log Day. Although there were a few nervous riders out there, the Log jumped great for everyone! A couple of RMSJ competitors teamed up with some of the staff and created a facebook page for the log....you may become friends with "Log Anderson" by searching his name...Log has already accumulated well over 100 friends and will be interested in visiting with you and sharing his experiences at Anderson Ranch in the coming years. Following the festivities in the competition ring on Log Day, we were pleased to host a baby shower for Heather Archer, and Mika Zdinich, both who are expecting later this year. Congratulations Gals! See the images from Log Day RMSJ Fall Finale featuring the ASJA Three Star Finals & CET Regional qualifiers: RMSJ is very pleased to be hosting the Alberta Show Jumping Association Three Star Finals and CET regional qualifiers at the Fall Finale to be held at Anderson Ranch on September 17 - 20, the week following the Spruce Meadows Masters. The Alberta Show Jumping Association has gone through numerous changes in the past few years, all in the efforts to make the sport here in Alberta better for the competitors. With the changes is the enhancement of the ASJA finals. In past years, the ASJA finals has always been geared to predominantly the medal and equitation divisions with the focus being the CET regional finals where three riders qualify to travel to the Royal Winter Fair in November. Typically, the riders who compete in the regionals are the more experienced in our sport. This year, the ASJA decided to produce an event that would also reward the more up and comers of the sport. The ASJA Finals will feature the Three Star Finals, where riders who have been accumulating points all year at the Three Star Tournaments will be able to accumulate double the points in their competitions in their quest to be crowned either champion or reserve champion for the year in their respective divisions. The ASJA felt it was necessary to reward more members of the association and felt that adding this component to the finals, it would make it a little bit more "special" to all. RMSJ will host a reception in the VIP tent during one of the evenings of the event to pay tribute to all members of the ASJA....look for more details upon arrival.
