At a recent stop on the Canadian Professional Golf Tour at neighbouring Sirocco Golf course for the ATB Classic, we had the chance to meet Canadian Golf pro Brian Benedictson. Brian is the founder & creator of the Swinkey Golf training aid. We are pleased to help support Brian on his quest for the card, and his exciting new venture Swinkey Golf. Show Jumping News from the West Coast: Two of the three tour events in British Columbia concluded this past weekend. Two weeks ago was the Twin Oaks Derby show in Richmond hosted by Trevor Graham. Eddie Macken and Lindsay Wendt battled it out in the $40,000 Twin Oaks Derby, with Eddie coming out on top this time with his mount Macuco. Last week was the first of the two majors at Thunderbird Showpark featuring the $32,500 Darnell & Company Grand Prix (won by John Anderson & Terrific), the $55,000 Warsteiner World Cup (won by Rich Fellers & Flexible), and the $10,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby (won by Jocelyn Evans & Soft Spoken) Competitors saddle up for B.C.'s largest showjumping competition Bretton Chad and Oxford finish eigth at the NAYRC: Rocky Mountain Show Jumping would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Bretton Chad of Calgary with her mount Oxford who made the trip to Lexington Kentucky last month and represented Alberta at the North American Young Riders Championships. Bretton at only 15 years of age finished eighth overall in the Junior competition competing over five rounds at 1.40m. The NAJYRC began in 1974 as an eventing challenge between the United States and Canada. A dressage championship was added in 1981, and show jumping was added in 1982. The first complete Young Riders championship was held in British Columbia, Canada in 1982. The Championships were expanded to officially include a championship division for juniors in 2006. The discipline of reining will be added to the official schedule in 2008. Many of North America’s best equestrians got their start at the NAJYRC including Olympic medalists Greg Best, Karen Lende O'Connor, Chris Kappler and McLain Ward, as well as Alison Firestone, Nicole Shahinian Simpson, Ray Texel, Chris Pratt, Frankie Chesler, Lisa Carlsen Lubitz, Harold Chopping, Martina Pracht, Kathleen Raine, Heather Mason, David Wilson, Gwyneth MacPherson, Tiffani Loudon, Buck Davidson, Abigail Lufkin, Missy Ransehousen, Mara DePuy, Molly Bliss, and Julie Gomena.
