Well it happens to everyone, and on Saturday May 23, 2009, the management of RMSJ will be pleased in taking some time to honor and recognize one of Alberta's finest veterinarians and supporters of the local equine community Dan French. Dan will be turning 50 this year, and in his honor, the feature event at the second Bow Valley Classic will be titled "The $25,000.00 Dan Turns 50 Grand Prix" Join us for the festivities on Saturday May 23 in the VIP tent to enjoy Grand Prix Show Jumping, as well as have a visit with Dan and his family. He attended veterinarian school in Saskatoon, and then upon graduating, did an internship in Colorado, before returning to Calgary to set up his practice out of the Okotoks Animal Clinic. Most of us have known Dan for many years as the resident Veterinarian at Spruce Meadows. (Alberta Light Horse Show 1971) Look for more information upon your arrival at the Bow Valley Classic! 2009 Bow Valley Classics Information Update: The 2009 editions of the Bow Valley Classics are just one week away, and things seem to be shaping up well for the launch of the RMSJ outdoor season. As all of our exhibitors are aware, Mother Nature was quite mean to us this past winter, and unlike 2008 where the ground was completely thawed by early April, we are still have frozen ground which poses us some difficulties. Having said that, most of our exhibitors have been forewarned that our new barns will be only half finished for the launch of the season. This will allow us to have 144 covered stalls. Upon completion of the paving and stall installation, we will have 288 covered stalls. The other two barns are completed, however, we are still dealing with frozen ground, and are yet to be able to pave their interiors. We know that most of you are anxious with the developments that are ongoing over time here at Anderson Ranch, and are as excited as we are for the completion of the new barns. Upon completion of that project, we will then be able to commence with the new all weather footing show rings, scheduled for later this year.
