2008 Olympic Games:

Why are the equestrian events of the Olympic Games being held in Hong Kong rather than Beijing?

In order for a horse participating in an international sporting event to be imported in a country, bilateral agreements – or protocols for temporary importation - must exist between the host country and the horse’s home country. RMSJ Winter Training Series Jumper II Completed...Hunter II Upcoming:

The second of the 2008 RMSJ Winter Training Series Jumper Tournaments was completed just moments ago, and the focus again switches back to the hunters in two weeks for the second of the Winter Training Series Hunter Tournaments, to be held on February 29 - March 2.

After polling all of the exhibitors who have attended the first two jumper series, the results are overwhelmingly positive with respect to splitting the hunters in jumpers onto their own weekends. Quotes like; "It sure makes the days more enjoyable not being so long," and, "It gives us the chance to spend more quality time as coaches with our students" were some of the ones received while conducting the poll.

The RMSJ Winter Training Series Tournaments, are a part of the ASJA Three Star Series.

Don't forget, If you show in all three of the respective Winter Training Series Hunter, or Jumper, your name will be put into a draw, and RMSJ will send two of you to the Royal Winter Fair with airfare and tickets to events included.

ASJA 2008 Membership & Calendar:

We thought we would send a note to remind all Alberta competitors to renew their ASJA membership for 2008. As most of you know, the ASJA introduced the Five & Three Star Series in 2007. The series does require a declaration by ASJA members, and there is a box to check on the 2008 membership form. There is also a spot on the membership form for riders to declare for the Alberta Select Riders Program. Please take a few minutes to fill out your 2008 ASJA membership, and send it into the address located on the form.

Remember, all RMSJ tournaments are a part of the ASJA Star Series, and points will not be counted towards the year end champiuonships, unless you are an ASJA member and have declared yourself as a Three or Five Star rider.
